4 Kids In Pa Mom.

About my life.My Name is Donna Moy. I kept my maiden name when I got married because I was 33 and pretty accustomed being Donna Moy. Bank Accounts, car payments, paychecks, insurance, phones, even junk mail referred to me as Donna Moy. Plus a lot of my friends call me "Moy”. Not Donna, just "Moy.” Short names lend themselves well to this type of thing. Anyway, I am not averse to being called Donna Moy Holmes, or Mrs. Holmes. In fact, you can find me on Facebook as Donna Moy Holmes. .which is another story altogether.
I have known my husband Sean since we were kids. He is all the things I am not and vica versa. Well, except tall. We are both tall. . and athletes. We have 2 red-headed daughters: Meghan (3) and Emily (2). Meghan loves puzzles and dresses and wants everything to be pink. Emily likes to build things, play soccer and laugh . . . which is all good when you are 2. Grandmom, Pop-Pop and Uncle Tommy live 10 minutes away and we see them pretty much every day.
About me.I am a good friend. Friends are like family to me and I keep them around. If we are friends, we are friends. You need me, I am there. That simple.
I am queen of nicknames. It is not on purpose to be funny either. I do it without even thinking about it. Not real sophisticated nicknames, simple one like initials, last name, sound-alikes. And if you get one, I rarely call you anything but. Take for instance, my friend "Scootie”, from Penn State. Her birth name, obviously, is not "Scootie”, in fact, I did not even give her that name, "Lombardago" did. (again a nickname) But my girls call her Aunt Scootie. Sometimes I catch myself introducing her as Scootie. Even my husband calls her Scootie! There are a bunch of them actually. . "Wils”, "Aunt Sara”, "Mahhhge”, "Anna bo Banna”, "MPK”, "Joker”, "Boek”, "Bo Bena” . . you get the idea. Told you, not real sophisticated.
I am a hugger. My neighbor Emily is finally getting used to it. She is not a hugger, and has expressed it to me several times. I however, do not accept it. She will be hugged.
I am an athlete. I like all sports. Well, not tennis. I don't like tennis, mainly because I am bad at it. But I run a bunch and go to the gym. When I can, I do a 5K, 10K or Half marathon. (Time is pretty tight right now, so making that happen is a bit difficult)
I never give up. Nope. Not even kidding a little bit. If I am going to do something, I do it. Not that my sights are set on the White House or anything. But I have some goals. One goal is getting 4KidsinPA.com off the ground and partnered with some great organizations that have the same values. I am getting there one step at a time. My aunt tells me I am eating an elephant one bite at a time, which more acurrately conveys how I feel. LMAO!
Bread and butter. I am a technical consultant. Huh? Yea, I get that alot. I build enterprise applications for large businesses like ATT, eBay, Hewlett Packard and the like. Yea, sounds boring. I know. But I really like it. AND I get to work from home, which rocks.
My mom watches the girls while I work Monday through Thursday and I don't work on Friday. Which leads me to 4KidsinPA.com.
4KidsinPA.com.
The way I look at it, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are days of play. There is always something interesting to do. Museums & Science centers, nature centers, parks, fairs, festivals, theater, football games and more. So we need to get out there and do it.
Finding the things to do . . another story. There are some awesome women out there that have local lists of things to do, but some events are township residents only. . or during the week. So I got to thinking.
Why not a site geared toward weekends: Friday, Saturday & Sunday across PA. Local events plus statewide events for the weekends?
So, one thing led to another and voila. 4KidsinPA.com. I can't take all the credit though. My mom is a major player. She finds all the events and gives me ideas all the time. Plus, it was kinda her idea. LOL!
4KidsinPA.com will be 1 year old May 1, 2010. How exciting. Maybe I should have a party..
is the Free Resource for Families to find Things to see and Do in Pennsylvania. Events, Programs, Parks, Day Trips and Vacations . . . all in one spot. Plus, We partner with local event sites to make sure you get the full picture.
