A self-proclaimed stitchaholic, Colleen Leader has been involved in
needlework for as long as she can remember.  Her Mom Mom Rita taught her to
stitch when she was 6 years old, but it wasn't until she was forced to watch
football with her husband (then boyfriend) that she became obsessed with
fabric, fibers, beads and buttons.  Now you'd be hard pressed to see her
without a project in hand. 

This busy mother of 3 children, 6 and under has managed to find time to
develop, build and launch creative and women centered-business: Follow The
Leader Designs, a cross stitch design company that challenges each stitcher
to alter the FTL design to create pieces that showcase their personality and
style; Stella and Mimi, a venture created with her partner Michelle
Ciarlo-Hayes, Colleen created a marketing, public relations and small
business resource for women entrepreneurs; SYHO - The Stitch Your Heart Out
Campaign was created to excite stitchers with a new and fun project, create
an interest in stitching for non-stitchers and introduce stitching to the
next generation while promoting heart health.

The last 5 years designing, teaching and working in the needlework industry
prompted Colleen to create her most exciting needlework venture to date,
Loose Thread Stitchers (LTS).  She has made it her mission to build the
needlework community one LoOSe ThREaD at a time.  The LTS website allows stitchers to
create a custom search for needlework related products, events,
services and offerings from needlework companies around the world.  With
tens of thousands of members worldwide, the LTS website has quickly become
the needlework industry's version of Google, propelling the industry into
the 21st century and capturing the attention of both the established
needleworker and the tech savvy newbie.

Colleen's designs are carried in hundreds of local needlework shops around
the world.  She has been featured in a variety of print, television and
online sources, including The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, AOL small
business, Entrepreneur.com, Just Cross Stitch Magazine, The Gift Of
Stitching Magazine and Needlework Retailer.  Her book, Alphabet Soup for
Cross Stitch, co-authored by Michelle Ciarlo-Hayes will be available in 2010.
