In the new motion picture comedy “Date Night,” Steve Carell and Tina Fey are Phil and Claire Foster, a sensible, loving couple with two kids and a house in suburban New Jersey. Each week, the Fosters have a “date night” – an attempt at re-experiencing the excitement and romance of the dates of yesteryear. In an attempt to take date night off auto-pilot, Phil decides to take Claire into Manhattan to the city’s hottest new restaurant. Hoping to be seated sometime before the clock strikes twelve, they steal a no-show couple’s reservations.
The purloined reservation leads to a case of mistaken identity – and to the confused couple facing a pair of dangerous thugs.
Phil and Claire soon realize that their play date-for-parents has gone hilariously wrong, as they embark on a wild and dangerous series of crazy adventures during which they’ll reaffirm their marriage and realize they are better as a couple than they are alone.
