a client who entertains the kids...perfect! |

Last week another consultant and myself had a follow-up meeting with our client, Romp N' Roll in Willow Grove.
Being a stay-at-home mom and having a meeting at 12:30pm, could have been difficult, but not for this client. While we met in one room, the kids happily played for over an hour with a Romp N' Roll instructor in the play gym. This is one reason I am happy to promote this client. My KIDS LOVE R & R and mostly because the teachers are friendly and kid-centric.
As we had a very adult meeting, I was rest assured that my kids were fine just feet away and having fun.
I basically had to drag the kids out and my older son (Spencer, 3) asked, "When can we do another meeting, Mom?"
It was a great afternoon. As much as I LOVE being a full-time mom, it is very rewarding to work again and being able to bring the kids along (sometimes!) makes it all worth it.
So MOMS, here is my challenge to you - check out this gym, they have packages for all budgets and opportunities for kids to have independent classes or parent inclusive classes.
And, if you are a working mom without steady childcare, do you ever have the opportunity to bring the kids with you? I would love to hear how you do it.

Nothing new to report...enjoying a nice weekend with my family and friends.
Big meeting this Wednesday to present our research findings to Romp N Roll. Very exciting. Looking forward to it, plus they are entertaining our children with a class while we meet. (How awesome is that!)

With mother's day quickly approaching, it is just another reminder of how lucky I am to be a mom and to have an awesome mom who lives just a few miles away!
Making a decision to work from home was not as easy as one may think. To work with two children (3 and 1) boucing around the house was sure to present some challenges. And, even with my plan to work while they nap, sleep, and attend preschool seems to work, that means there is not a lot of time left for "me" time!
Thanks Mom! (Yep, once again, it is my amazing mom who comes to relieve me for a few hours to dare, I say it, yes, take time for me!)
Since my husband had to work late, I had the perfect night out with some friends.
So, for all you stay-at-home working moms, remember to take a break and if grandma is not home, hopefully, you have someone else to call. (Plus, the kids had the best time ever!)

What catches your eye? |

As a parent, what catches your eye? How did you pick your child's school, daycare, camp, and other activities?
For me, it is usually word-of-mouth first and then my own research as follow-up (a visit, website, or a phone call). Still, when you are leaving your child, or even participating in an activity with your child, you want to make sure you get the most out of your time and money both academically and physically.
I plan to dive deeper into this topic as I am currently conducting some research for Romp N Roll, but for now, I am most interested in what attracts you (the parent) to sign your child up!

Activities for Kids....how do you decide? |

How do you choose activities (play gyms, sports, music, camps) for your kids? Where do you look for information?
I am currently working on a research project for a local kids gym - Romp N Roll in Willow Grove. They opened about a year ago and both my kids attend and LOVE their classes. It is a wonderful, clean place, with a professional and friendly staff. The part I like best is that they have independent classes for my older son (he will be 4 in June) and I can take a class with my other son (almost 2) at the same time!
Check them out at www.rompnroll.com (willow grove).
So where do you take your kids? What type of marketing impresses you? Can you tell if something is the real deal, or just hype?
I would LOVE to hear some feedback!

Exciting Times... |

First of all, I am very disappointed that I was unable to attend the Mom Blogger event today hosted by MomSpace. Being new to the blogging world, I was really looking forward to learning about this ever-evolving social media. But, I am a Mom first, and with my husband at work (yes, on a Saturday), my kids were calling!
It was a good day...can't complain.
As for my Flexcom work, things are HAPPENING! New businesses be warned, once it starts, it can snowball quick : )
We signed two clients in one week and have two more in the wings. All exciting projects (I will discuss later once I get rolling). So, now I am in the research phase on two of the clients. Still only working a few hours a week (5 to 10), which is perfect for now. My husband is now working a bit more, so I am not so flexible, but that is the beauty of working for yourself and from home -- you can make your own schedule and set your own pace. Also, once his schedule slows down, then mine can pick-up and the kids are always covered.
Off to enjoy the rest of the weekend....work starts on Monday : )

Get Noticed! |

GET NOTICED!
That is the first step once you are ready to launch your business. Word of mouth is the easiest and cheapest way to get great public relations. And, once you start talking about it (and BELIEVING in the message), others will too and also start talking.
NETWORK....
Social media is easy, right? Create a Facebook Page, Twitter Page and start connecting with your friends and family. Before you know it, word will spread to friends of friends and you will be NOTICED!
So, what is your unique product or service...how are you getting noticed?

Benefits of Play |

SPRING BREAK...My son Spencer has been on Spring Break since last Monday and does not return to school until the Wednesday. It was a week of playing with cousins, day trips, holidays, and simple family time. It was also a week where I took a break from my daily routine of checking email and working.
So, how did I do?
Not bad actually. Fourtunately, aside from some researching I started on a new client, I was able to relax and enjoy the week...once we got past the rain that is.
So, what did I learn?
That it is actually refreshing to take a day, or two, or three away from the emails and social media sites and get outside and play.
So, what does this mean?
I think that it is important to take a step back once in awhile. It is so easy to stay connected all the time, but if we take a step back, we may actually be more movtivated and creative when we return to work.
So, tune in next week as I get back to my schedule and dive into some new projects.

It's Happening! |

WOW! After months of planning and self promoting, Flexcom signed two clients in one week! I work with a team of four stay-at-home-moms. We all had a vision of this day, but now that it is here, it is very rewarding.
Planning and patience.
We have all had small projects over the last few months, but now, things are moving and business leads are picking up and yes, checks are in the mail!
When our team formed last September, we focused on ourselves - our bios, our strengths, our interests, our time restraints. A framework was established on how we would obtain work, retain work, and divide work between our team. Then we moved on to self promotion...aka PR. We generated a few stories about ourselves and how our company works we also hosted a meet and greet with potential clients, colleagues, and supporters to get the word out that we are a viable business in the community. In addition, we handed out business cards to just about anyone with an interest!
Well, I am here to say, it is working.
And, now, it is time to start some research :)

Learning to accept help... |
Posted By Amy Alderson,

Asking and accepting help was not something I was good at doing until after the birth of Cooper (almost 2 years ago). I like to think that I can do it all 24/7. Although, I realize that reaching out to others (in my case the grandparents) is actually a win/win/win - for me, for them, and for the boys!
So, now that I am working, it is much appreciated when the boys have a special date with their grandparents and I get a view minutes to myself.
Today was a good day. I had a client meeting and although I could have taken the boys with me, I opted to ask grandma to watch them. This gave me two hours to discuss concepts, strategies, and solutions without having to change a diaper or grab a snack! It also gave me a chance to exchange in dialog with other women and it felt great.
Now, I am back at home with my boys (who are both resting)...time for me to rest too :)
